A delayed tidal power generator at Pembroke Dock is vital to creating jobs and securing the area's economic future, a local councillor has said.
Jonathan Nutting was speaking after it was revealed that the generator is still sitting at the dockside eight months after it was meant to have been taken out to sea.
Tidal Energy Limited said delays caused by bad weather meant extra survey work was needed, resulting in a financial shortage.
Mr Nutting said the scheme was important to reduce Pembrokeshire's reliance on the oil industry.
